You can’t just put your website or blog on the net with right keywords and all the right touches and believe that your traffic and ranking will remain constant. The web is always in motion. It’s always changing, and you have to keep track of your own web or blog results like what is happening with the competition and also the best and highest ranked sites. Keep Traffic Coming Back

1. Keep your page fresh. Update it frequently. The more you update, the more the search engines love you, but the search engines will forget all about you unless you are constantly showingyour face.

2. Give away freebies. People love free stuff, and when the word gets out that you have neat, useful freebies on your site, you’ll find yourself with both new and returning visitors.

3. Add a link to ‘Recommend this site to a Friend’ so that the visitor can email your website link, with a prewritten title, “Thought you might be interested in this”, just by clicking on it. Here’s where you can find script to handle the task.

4. Brand your site or blog. That means that you should use consistent colors and a consistent layout. If you have a blog, don’t change the theme up too much. Find a theme that you like and stick with it. It doesn’t hurt to include a picture of yourself on your blog. You want people to know you and it helps for them to know what you look like.

5. Don’t spam people. Don’t use e-mail capturing programs and use such programs to send your customers newsletters or promotional materials. Don’t solicit your visitors unless they ask to receive information from you. Even when they do opt in, keep solicitations to a minimum.

Viral Marketing

It’s about time that marketers see the value of the buzz. Well, maybe that’s not fair. It’s about time that they pay people for spreading the word. Viral marketing can make or break your business. Here’s an example. You go to the drycleaners. You get them back and there are holes burned in every pair of your work pants. You tell your friend and she tells her friend, and she tells her friend, and so on and so on. That’s viral marketing in action. Now what if you take your favorite dress with the huge grape juice stain to the cleaners. They totally clean the dress perfectly and they give you a 10% discount. Again, that’s viral marketing in action. So, your mission is to not only give your clients or readers what they want, but to also give them more than they expect. Freebies are a good thing. When people come to your website, give them a reason to stay a while. Give them a reason to come back for more. Give them a reason to tell their friends about you. Viral marketing or good old word of mouth, is your friend.
