Need Traffic? Here’s Where to Network

Identify Yourself

I’ve seen a definite increase in blog traffic, even after I stopped using traffic exchanges (which I found to be totally useless). Here’s what I did. I joined some social networking groups. Here are what I consider to be the best social networks.

First, I joined MyBlogLog. Within about 10 minutes, 50 people had viewed my profile on the site. Within a day, my traffic increased. I had about 30 new page visits on my blog. I thanked my visitors for reading and some of them joined my community, meaning that they are more likely to be repeat readers. Not bad for the first day. As I visit other blogs, I see that many of them have MyBlogLog community buttons as pictures. I see many of my MyBlogLog friends on the net. My BlogLog is certainly one of the best social networks.

Next, I check WAHM.com I usually go there for good-solid advice and to keep up with what’s working and what’s not. I learned of another social network site, blogcataloge. I found some great discussions there! Yes. It is definitley one of the best social networks. Check out the Making Money discussion. Most people on Blog Catalog said that they drive traffic through social networks, like Blog Catalog and MyBlogLog. One woman stated that Ning was THE social network to drive traffic to your site. This site allows you to create your own community or group, centered around a topic that you choose. For example, you create an art community or a gospel singing community. It’s looks real cool.

I think that the majority of the people mentioned Stumble Upon, too. Stumble Upon isn’t a blog social network, but it’s a way to rate the best blogs. So, you can get your own blog included in the Stumble network and hopefully others will give you a positive rating. People who are truly interested in your blog’s subject will rate your blog (by giving it a thumbs up or giving it a thumbs down). You need to download a toolbar to use Stumble Upon.
My blog received about 200 visitors immediately after being included in Stumble Upon.

Now here’s your homework. Sign up at the following sites to social network your way to more traffic:
Blog Catalog
MyBlogLog
Ning

Download the toolbar for Stumble Upon and include yor blog.

Participate in forums related to your topic:
WAHM (Work at Home Mom, for example)

Write content that people could use.
