Freelance writing is an excellent way to earn money from home. It’s not as difficult as you may think. Persistence pays off. If you can tell a good story and organize your thoughts on paper, you can write. There are several content based websites that hire writers.
Constant Content allows you to write an article and post it to their site. You name the price, and customers who seek content purchase your work. You can sell all rights or you can sell a usage license, allowing you to sell the same article over and over again. Some writers even give their work away for free. The downside is that you never know if your work is going to sell.
Associated Content asks that writers submit articles, video or audio. The editors are looking for content producers who can drive traffic to their site. The editors will give you an offer for your work. The first offer may be lower than subsequent offers. For example, if your article receives a low offer of less than $10, but it is a highly viewed article, your next piece may receive a higher pay. At least, that’s what the Associated Content web site states.
Life Tips invites writers to write tips on rather narrow and sometimes obscure topics. They pick the topics and you write tips that pay up to $7 per tip, according to the Life Tips web site. The article must be written according to strict standards. Eventually, you will write 190 tips on the topic. You have to be willing to research and think on your feet for this one. It sounds like a lot of work. You can get paid $1,400 per project. That’s a lot of cheese.
Elance is a popular site where clients post assignments and writers bid on the work. Sometimes other writers low ball the work, offering to pull off assignments for peanuts. Small businesses or writer networks also bid on assignments. Many writers do get good assignments on Elance. You have to be able to handle rejection and continuously seek good assignments and bid. Here’s a tip, when navigating the site, click on Marketplace on the bottom of the home page. Next, click Projects. The projects are narrowly categorized. There are projects for news writers, copywriters, people who write white pages, and people who write press releases. This list continues. Elance offers subscription-based packages and a single free package. They say that the higher priced packages gives writers access to select projects with higher pay. The attributes of the packages are listed on the site.
Be forewarned that many of these sites pay very little, $10 for an average length article. Some of the sites pay $25 or so. That may sound good, but keep in mind that most sites ask for all rights. Sites that allow you to resale your work are best. It’s more work to continually produce writing. It’s best to resale the same article over and over again. It is illegal to resale an article after you have sold all rights.
