Looking for a job today? There are a few companies that hire large numbers of teleworkers, so any of these companies may have openings at any given time. Persistence is key when locating a telework position. Check back with these companies weekly, if possible. Most work at home companies have online forms to complete, but you shouldn’t send a different online application weekly!
Working Solutions is a virtual call center. The company hires people to answer customer service calls from home. You can apply onine to be an agent. You can register a user name and password to update your application. This is not full-time work, and work may not always be steady, but it can be a nice supplemental income to help you get out of debt. Insurance benefits are not offered at this time. You must be using Windows XP and you must have a quiet place to work for this job. A barking dog or a crying child could cost you your job! If you think that you may need additional work in a few months, I suggest that you apply now! They receive thousands of applicants and it could take weeks or months before they get back to you. This company communicates mostly via e-mail.
Live Ops – You can expect to handle infomercial orders and maybe even orders from shows like the Home Shopping Network and QVC. I am not saying that you will definitely be handling calls from these companies, but the calls may be similar to those received by these popular television shows. Like Working Solutions, you must have a quiet place in which to work. Background noises could cost you your job, because the customers should not know that you are working from home. I believe that you are paid based on the time spent talking to someone on the phone, which is called talk time; you may want to ask about that. Health insurance is not offered.
Alpine Access is yet another virtual call center. Alpine hires you as an employee, which is great for tax purposes (Americans). You don’t have to file quarterly taxes if you are an employee. Alpine also offers paid training and you are paid hourly, whether you are talking on the phone or not. Full time virtual employees qualify for health benefits! Alpine offers its teleworkers medical, dental, and participation in the 401K plan. According to the company’s website, virtual employees are invited to company picnics, networking opportunities. That job sounds like a dream!
